The picture frame is composed of hollow profiled bars (2) linked together by connectors (16) to form the corners. The outer contour (18) of the end section (17) of the connector (16) fits into the inner contour (7) of the hollow profiled bar (2). Initially the end section (17) of the connector (16) is inserted at least partially into the hollow profile (2) to be held in a clamping fit. The hollow profile is heated by ultrasonics so that the material of the end section (17) of the connector (16) gives a material bond with the hollow profile (2) in a welded joint. The ultrasonic welding is applied by a sonotrode.
