PURPOSE:To lighten the burden on a user and improve the reliability more by protecting data by software in case of the power failure of a disk cache. CONSTITUTION:A monitor circuit 23 monitors the charging/discharging time of a battery with a signal transmitting the state of the battery to a cache memory controller 2. Information obtained through this monitor circuit is sent to a host device 7 through a control circuit 21 which passes and receives data between the cache memory controller 2 and host device 7. The host device 7 performs battery management (state monitoring, charging/ discharging time monitoring, etc., of the battery) by the software according to battery state data, thereby performing backup time prediction, life management, etc. |
