PURPOSE:To provide a character generator capable of generating the character data of each style of writing having various thickness with small memory capacity by generating data having weights different in the same style of writing from character data constituted by the outline data of at least one style of writing. CONSTITUTION:Based on a thick character amount and a small character amount inputted from a keyboard 5, a conversion program stored in a ROM 2 is executed by a CPU 1 and the coordinate value of an outline data is converted. A thick or a thin character pattern is generated by the CPU 1 based on this outline data whose coordinate value is converted and thick or thin characters having different thickness are generated from small character data. Further, an outer outline data and an inner outline data are extracted from the outline data by the CPU 1 and a thick or a thin character pattern having a good appearance is generated. Also, a thick character amount or a thin character mount inputted by the extracted outer and inner outline data is independently made variable and thereby a thick or a thin character pattern having a good appearance is generated. |
