The control method involves using a control unit with a moving element and a switch, which changes its switch state when the element adopts a particular position. There is a sensor to detect the position of this element and to give a representative signal to the control unit. From this signal, switch information is derived. To avoid chattering of the switch, a threshold value is derived from the position of the element (as a value) when it is open, and whenever this threshold is exceeded by the actual position value, it is assumed that the switch state really has changed.
