PURPOSE:To check the wiring for an error before the main relay closes its circuit, relating to the signal transmission circuit for the transmission of information between the indoor and outdoor apparatuses of a split type air conditioner, so as to prevent damage to the parts of the circuit. CONSTITUTION:A serial signal transmission-reception circuit 33 connected between a common line and a signal line is provided in each of the indoor apparatus and outdoor apparatus. A voltage detective circuit 4 for detecting the d.c. voltage in the signal line is provided in the apparatus on the power-feeding side. In the apparatus on the power-receiving side a switch circuit is provided in parallel with the serial signal transmission-reception circuit 15 and a unidirectional device, on the signal line in a setup to check whether the wiring between the two apparatuses is done properly or wrongly from the d.c. voltage in the signal line detected by the voltage detective circuit 4.
