PURPOSE:To provide an external agent for skin for preventing the aging of skin such as generation of wrinkle by effectively eliminating hydroxy radical and/or singlet oxygen formed in the skin by the metabolism in vivo, exposure to solar ultraviolet rays, etc. CONSTITUTION:Extracted liquid and/or extracted component of one or more kinds of plants selected from Hamamelis (Hamamelis japonica Sieb. et Zucc., Hamamelis obtusata Makino and Hamamelis virginiana L.), Japanese oak (Quercus serata Thunb.), OHNARA (Quercus crispula Blume), chestnut tree (Aesculus hippocastanum L.) and burnet (Sanguisorba officinalis L.) are compounded as an agent for eliminating hydroxy radical and/or singlet oxygen. The above active oxygen species generated in the skin by the metabolism in vivo, exposure to solar ultraviolet rays, etc., can be eliminated with a small amount of the agent to exhibit excellent effect for preventing the aging of skin.
