METHOD FOR AUTOMATICALLY GRASPING FOCUS POSITION IN LASER BEAM MACHINE

PURPOSE:To automate the lens change by automatically grasping the focus position. CONSTITUTION:A converging lens 1 is moved by the prescribed distance (t) so that the focus (f) may pass from one side of the work surface Wa to the other side, and the intensity of the machining laser beam R is measured by an optical sensor 2 by irradiating the laser beam B on the work surface Wa at each position. The work surface Wa is made the focus position of the converging lens 1 at the center position of the converging lens moving range where the intensity of the machining leaser beam exceeds the prescribed level. The focus position can be automatically grasped without visual operation of an operator.
