A technique for providing an easy to remove leak-proof seal for shipment of a remanufactured toner cartridge (10). An adhesive-backed sealing strip (20) is disposed over the feed roller (16) of the hopper (12) so that a seal is formed between the mylar blades (18) and the feed roller (16). The excess portion of the sealing strip (20) is then passed through a foam wiping assembly (26) and out through a slit (22) in the lid (14) of the hopper (12). The toner (32) is poured into the hopper (12) over the sealed feed roller (16) and the lid (14) is then sealed onto the hopper (12) prior to shipment. Upon receipt by the customer, the excess portion of the sealing strip (20) extending out through the slit (22) in the lid (14) is simply pulled until the sealing strip (20) is completely removed from the feed roller (16). Excess toner (32) is removed from the sealing strip (20) by the foam wiping assembly (26) so that no toner (32) escapes the hopper (12) to leak onto the user's clothing. |
