摘要 Honeycomb structures are used, inter alia, in caravans in order to keep their towing load as low as possible. A disadvantage of known sandwich profiles is the adhesive bonding of the core and outer layer, which consist of different materials, for example metal and a fibrous composite material, because alternating flexural loading causes the outer layer to buckle, become detached and lose its supporting function. The novel composite material is to be adequately resistant to bending and shearing in spite of a low density. The composite material (1) comprises strips (5) which run in a curved form and are firmly bonded to one another over the broad area of the contact surfaces. Openings (10) pass through the material of the strips (5). The said openings are of a slot-like design, and their edges are bent up in the manner of beads. The beads (11), produced by the bending up of the edges of the openings (10), of neighbouring strips (5) engage in one another in a spoon-like manner, at least over part of their circumference. The openings (10) extend on both sides of a bending line (13). The openings (10) are penetrated by a filling material (21), which is located in honeycomb chambers (15) and forms a one-piece part, so that high resistance to bending and shearing is obtained. <IMAGE>
