Process for the preparation of cyclohexylamine derivatives

According to a novel process, cis-2-carboxy-4-cis-methyl-cyclohexylamine of the formula <IMAGE> and its hydrogen halide addition salts can be prepared in that N-(methoxycarbonylamino)-2-cis-methoxycarbonyl-4-cis-methyl- cyclohexylamine of the formula <IMAGE> is either a) reacted with strong bases in the presence of an inert organic diluent at temperatures between 50 DEG C and the boiling point of the reaction mixture, or b) reacted with hydrohalic acids in a mixture with aliphatic carboxylic acids, if appropriate in the presence of an additional diluent, at temperatures between 20 DEG C and 200 DEG C, or c) reacted with hydrogen halides in the presence of a diluent at temperatures between 0 DEG and 200 DEG C under a pressure of between 2 and 1000 bar.
