The sign stand consists of individual tube elements which are connected to form a frame and to which, in particular traffic signs 7 can be attached. The base frame is composed of longitudinal supports 1 and transverse supports 2, on which is pivotably arranged the tube-holding profile 3 which is held on the base frame by means of a prop 11 for the purpose of fixing the vertical position. The longitudinal supports 1 are tubes and there is situated approximately at the centre of these longitudinal supports 1 and mounted thereon a tube-holding profile 3 which is open towards the longitudinal direction and in which a sign tube 6 is held and firmly clamped.
