PURPOSE:To obtain an aminocarboxylic acid salt in high yield and selectivity on an industrial scale at a low cost by a production method having a high initial reaction activity and a small activity drop of catalyst in repeated uses and producing little by-product. CONSTITUTION:An aminoalcohol of formula (R<1> and R<2> are H, hydroxyethyl, 1-18C alkyl, 2-3C aminoalkyl or 2-3C hydroxyalkylaminoalkyl) is treated in the presence of alkali metal hydroxide and/or alkaline earth metal hydroxide, water and a catalyst containing vanadium and copper, at 120-210 deg.C, preferably 140-200 deg.C, under the pressure of 5-50kg/cm<2>, preferably 8-20kg/cm<2> to obtain the objective aminocarboxylic acid salt by the oxidation and dehydrogenation. The catalyst contains vanadium element of 10ppm-5%, preferably 50ppm-1% to copper in terms of weight. |
