DISPLAY METHOD FOR PART OF RADIATION PICTURE

PURPOSE: To display a part of a radiation image with high resolution by deforming the radiation image into pyramidal multiresolution display showing details of local image in plural scales. CONSTITUTION: The radiation image of an object is recorded by exposing 2 on an optically stimulable phosphor screen 3 to X rays passing through the object. A radiation image reader 1 reads information in a read-only memory (EEPROM) and the image preserved in the optical stimulative phosphor screen. The radiation image is deformed into pyramidal multiresolution display showing the local detailed pictures of plural scales, and the multiresolution display is preserved in a memory. The area of a desired part in the radiation image is decided and the multiresolution display of the desired area is retrieved from the memory and the area is reconstituted by applying the inverse of the former deformation on retrieved multiresolution display. Then, the area of the reconstituted image is displayed.
