There is provided a pinball detecting apparatus capable of detecting pinballs at a board thereof and accurately picking up and detecting the hit pinballs to accurately count the number of hit pinballs. There are provided a hit pinball point storage medium for storing a plurality of detecting positions along a hit pinball guide rail on the board as hit pinball points, a hit pinball counter (300) for storing the number of hit pinballs, and a processor (30) for reading detected data on hit pinball points stored in the hit pinball point storage medium after the lapse of a predetermined stand-by time and counting up values in the hit pinball counter when values of the detected data have changed.
