<p>PURPOSE:To provide hexafluoropropylene oxide polymer having different functional groups at both the molecular ends and enabling to expect various pplications by combining various reactions at both the molecular ends. CONSTITUTION:Hexafluoropropylene oxide (HFPO) polymer of formula I (R<1> is single bond, 1-10C alkylene or a group produced by replacing a part or all of the hydrogen atoms of the alkylene with fluorine; Rf is F, 1-10C perfluoroalkyl or perfluoroalkyl ether; n is an integer of 0 or larger). The polymer is produced by reacting HFPO with a vinyl group-containing compound of formula II in the presence of a catalyst selected from an alkali fluoride (e.g. potassium fluoride, cesium fluoride) and a quaternary ammonium fluoride. Various functional silicon-containing group residues can be introduced into one terminal vinyl group of the polymer by a hydrosilylation reaction, and the other terminal -CUF group can be combined with various organic groups through ester or amide bonds. The polymer is thus used e.g. for the production of new functional silicon compounds containing the HFPO polymer units.</p> |
