A method for producing rice surface-treated with pure gold, e.g. for celebratory dishes on occasions such as engagements or weddings, comprises the steps of coating the rice surfaces with edible glue, applying pressure to adhere pure gold leaves to the rice, drying and dehumidifying the rice at a low temperature, and pasteurizing and then refrigerating the rice. The rice may be further packed in a vacuum-sealed bag, if needed. The pure gold leaves stay securely attached to the surfaces of the rice and do not become detached therefrom until it is cooked. |
