The granules can be used in particular in washing and cleaning agents. A homogeneous premix is pressed through dies at high pressures to form a string and the string exiting from the dies is divided transversely to the predetermined particle length with a rotating cut-off knife (1) so that the particles are thrown off radially from the cut-off knife (1). The particles are collected by a flexible air-permeable textile cloth (2) which is arranged with loose tension about the cut-off knife (1) in the region of the radially thrown-off particles. Gas, in particular air, is blown into the interior space formed in this way by the textile cloth (2) and this gas is also blown at the outside of the textile cloth (2). Even at very high throughputs and without restriction of the formulation spectrum, caking and adhesion of the granules to the interior wall of the granulation hood are avoided. <IMAGE>
