PURPOSE: To provide an X-Y shifter capable of periodically renewing a calibration value by accomplishing the calibration of the X-Y shifter under the control of an electronic controller or a microcomputer programmed to perform a calibration routine each time a vehicle is shutdown. CONSTITUTION: Calibration of an X-Y shifter is accomplished under the control of a microcomputer 28 programmed to perform a calibration routine each time a vehicle is shutdown. The routine causes a shift finger 10 of the shifter to be moved to a position contacting with various inner wall surfaces 11F, 11R, 12F, 12R, 13F, 13R, 11X, 13X of plural shift blocks 11, 12, 13 of respective transmission shift rails (14a to c) from which calibrated shift rails (14a to c) and neutral position are calculated. The calibrated neutral position is decided by taking an average of the mutually most close forward position and backward position. |
