PURPOSE: To obtain a thermal image recorder in which air stream for cooling a printhead is taken in from the outside of the recorder while protecting the recorder against dust incident to the outer air stream. CONSTITUTION: A thermal image recorder comprises a printhead 18 having a thermal print circuit 36 and a heat sink 37, a ventilation means 43 producing an air stream for cooling a heat sink, and means for guiding the air stream to the outside of the thermal image recorder after the heat sink is cooled. The printhead is set in a sub-housing 19 which is set movably in a main housing and the heat sink of the printhead is located on the inside of an opening 48 in the bottom wall 47 of the sub-housing but on the outside of the print circuit 36. Side face of the sub-housing is closed except an air intake opening 41 and an air discharge opening 42 so that the sub-housing does not communicate with the main housing of the thermal image recorder. |
