PURPOSE: To make it possible to mount speedily a steering wheel column from only one side of coverplate by a cover unit having a favorable sealing function, in a cover unit for mounting the steering wheel column in sealed condition through the partition wall of an automobile between a driver's cabin and a front wheel steering apparatus of the automobile. CONSTITUTION: A cover unit is composed of a coverplate 1 which can be positioned against the back side of a driver chamber equipped with an insertable sealing sleeve 6 having a slight opening in a steering column 8 by facing toward the driver's 4, and a counterplate 2 equipped with fixed rings 11 which can be assembled from the driver's cabin and can be pressed on the sealing sleep 6. The fixed ring has locking gears 12 which extend inwardly and can spring on its front edge. The locking gears 12 can be locked with the locking rings 13 corresponding with the sealing sleeve 6. At that time, the sealing sleeve 6 has a plane 9 of the rings which are joggled outwardly to a front steering apparatus 5, and the sealing sleeve 6 can be supported on a colored plane 10 to conform with the steering column 8. |
