PURPOSE:To switch the actuation and stoppage of a fixing function by converting the rotation of a pulse transmitting disk to a signal by a detecting sensor and judging the normal carrying of a paper. CONSTITUTION:The long sized paper is carried by a carrying device constituted of a nip roller 4 positioned behind a thermal fixing device 2 and having no driving force and a paper ejecting roller 3 having a driving force. In the case that paper jamming occurs, the long sized paper is not carried, so that the nip roller 4 having no driving force is not rotated, and a signal from the detecting sensor 6 for detecting the rotation of the disk 5 attached to the nip roller 4 is not inputted into a controller, so that it is judged by the controller that the paper jamming occurs, and then, the thermal fixing device 2 is stopped. Meanwhile, in the case that the paper jamming does not occur, the long sized paper is carried by driving the paper ejecting roller 3, so that the nip roller 4 is also rotated following up the paper carrying, and the signal from the detecting sensor 6 for detecting the rotation of the disk 5 is periodically inputted into the controller, so that it is judged by the controller that the device acts normally, and then, the operation is continuously carried out. |
