PURPOSE:To provide the method for producing the high performance molecular sieve carbon capable of separating even oxygen and nitrogen from an easily available tar pitch as a raw material at a low cost. CONSTITUTION:The method for producing the molecular sieve carbon comprises preparing a pitch having a softening point of >=150 deg.C from tar pitch as a raw material, finely grinding the pitch into fine particles having an average particle diameter of 1-100mum, subjecting the fine particles to an infusibilization treatment in an oxidizing atmosphere, subjecting the treated fine particles to a granulation treatment, and finally carbonizing the produced granules at 760-900 deg.C. |
