PURPOSE:To prolong the life of a transfer belt, to enhance the detection precision of a position and to reduce a fault by constituting a color image forming device for attaching a light reflector for detecting the position on the surface of a transfer belt and covering the optical reflector with a transparent member. CONSTITUTION:For positioning the transfer belt 70 at the time of transferring the different color toner images of yellow, magenta and cyan, a reflection sheet 71 attached to a fixed position on the transfer belt 70 is used. The surface of the reflection sheet 71 provided on the transfer belt 70 is covered with the covering layer 72 of the transparent material. When the transfer belt 70 is sent to transfer rollers 7a-7c and the reflection sheet 71 approaches a position detecting point, first, the covering layer 72 is cleaned by a sheet cleaner 75. When the reflection sheet 71 reaches the position detecting point, light L projected from a projector 73 is reflected by the reflection sheet 71. Further, the reflected light L is received by a photodetector 74 and the position of the transfer belt 70 is detected to transfer the toner images of each different color. |
