PURPOSE:To set the optimum recording level by automatically changing a limiting level in accordance with the case of being discriminated as a normal tape or cromium tape and the case of being discriminated as a metal tape. CONSTITUTION:Two detection switches, where a cassette for the normal tape is provided on a cassette player, are pressed by the back surface part of a casing for the normal tape cassette. When a cassette for the cromium tape is loaded in the cassette player, the detection switches corresponding to detection holes 2 for the cromium tape provided on the cassette player are not pressed by the back surface part of the casing for tape cassette, that is, the switches become the ON-state; meanwhile the detection switches corresponding to detection holes 3 for the metal tape are pressed by the back surface part of the casing for tape cassette, that is, the switches become the OFF-state, and as a result, the tape is discriminated as the cromium tape. Then, an equalizing suitable for the cromium tape is automatically performed at the recording/ reproducing time. |
