Heterocyclic dihydroxyquinoxaline compounds having the formula (I) wherein R2 is hydrogen, NO2, NH2, CN, halogen, or SO2NH2; -X-Y-Z- is selected from -N=N-NR3-, -NR3-N=N-, =N-NR3-N=, -S-CH=N-, -N=CH-S-, -CH=C(CO2R3)-S-, -S-C(CO2R3)=CH-, =N-Se-N=, -NR3-N=CR3-, -CR3=N-NR3-, =N-O-N=, -N=CR3-CR3=N-, -NH-CR3=CR3-CR3=N-, -N=CR3-CR3=CR3-N-, =N-S-N=; wherein R3 is hydrogen, lower alkyl, or CF3. The invention also relates to a method of preparing the compounds, pharmaceutical compositions thereof, and their use in the treatment of indications caused by hyperactivity of the excitatory neurotransmitters. |
