NEW CEPHALOSPORIN COMPOUND

PURPOSE:To provide a new compound having strong antibacterial activity and excellent peroral absorbability and useful as an orally administrable cephalosporin antibacterial agent. CONSTITUTION:The compound of formula I (R<1> is H or ester residue which can be incised by hydrolysis; R<2> is H or lower alkyl), e.g. 7-[(Z)-2-(2- aminothiazol-4-yl)-2-methoxyimino]acetamido-3-[(Z)-2-(1,2,3-thiadiazol -4-yl) ethenyl]-3-cephem-4-carboxylic acid. The compound of formula I can be produced by reacting a cephem compound of formula II (R<5> is H, salt-forming residue or carboxyl-protecting group) with a compound of formula III (R<6> is H or amino- protecting group), removing the protecting group from the resultant compound of formula IV and, as necessary, converting the product to an ester or a salt.
