PURPOSE:To obtain a (meth)acrylic ester greatly simplified in the process for eliminating residual monomers, esterification catalyst and polymerization inhibitor, by dehydrating esterification between (meth)acrylic acid and an alcohol in the presence of a specific compound. CONSTITUTION:The (meth)acrylic ester can be obtained, in the presence of (A) a compound bearing a combination of polymerization-inhibitory function and esterification catalyst function (pref. 2-methyl-1-phenol-4-sulfonic acid), by dehydrating esterification between (B) (meth)acrylic acid and (C) an alcohol, or, by transesterification between (D) a (meth)acrylic ester and the component C. Either of the above reactions is preferably made at 60-80 deg.C for 3-12hr while blowing oxygen or its mixture with an inert gas into the reaction liquor or onto the surface of the liquor. And, it is preferable that elimination of the component A after finishing the reaction be made through neutralizing washing with an alkali or adsorption followed by, as necessary, filtration. |
