According to the invention, a slaughtered pig is depilated by blasting it with solid particles. This makes it possible to depilate a pig in a single step, during which it is heated to a lesser extent and less waste water is released than in the known depilating method. It is preferable to use particles, such as ice crystals, at least some of which become liquid after the blasting operation. This makes it easier to remove the said particles and prevents the meat from being contaminated with the said particles when the bones are being removed. <IMAGE>
