CONTROL SYSTEM FOR VEHICLE SAFETY DEVICE

PURPOSE:To provide a control system which can perform diagnosis of the trouble of an acceleration sensor while acceleration evaluation containing decision of collision is performed during running of a vehicle. CONSTITUTION:Acceleration sensors 11 and 12 each comprising a plurality of piezo elements are employed. A test pulse is alternately outputted to the acceleration sensors 11 and 12 from a microcomputer 30. It is checked by the microcomputer 30 whether a signal answering to a test pulse is outputted from the acceleration sensor being an object to be diagnosed and diagnosis of a trouble is effected thereby. A signal from the acceleration sensor being the object to be diagnosed is not used for decision of collision, and decision of collision is performed by means of a signal from other acceleration sensor.
