A recordable compact disk comprises a light-absorption layer, a light reflection layer, and a protective layer, formed in multilayer on a transparent substrate in that order. The disk is characterized in that the light reflection layer consists of two or more sub-layers, and a first reflection sub-layer nearest to the light-absorption layer is made of gold, silver, or an alloy containing gold and/or silver, and that the virtual refractive index of the reproduced light wavelength n-ik satisfies the relation, n </= 0.065 k<2> + 0.3 (where n > 0) when the entire light reflection layer is viewed from the light-absorption layer side. It is possible to provide an excellent characteristics recordable compact disk which has high weatherability, corrosion-resistance, and durability and which can be manufactured at a low cost. This is extremely useful industrially. |
