ELECTROMAGNETIC TYPE SPEED CHANGE GEAR

PURPOSE: To make a gear box such as a transfer case shiftable between two gear positions by installing an electromagnetic apparatus which shifts a shifting sleeve from the first speed change position to the second speed change position. CONSTITUTION: The reverse end 76 of the shifting sleeve 70 has an outer tooth spline 74 which is selectively engaged with a shaft hole 58 with an inner tooth spline for high speed range operation or a shaft hole 66 with an inner tooth spline for low speed range operation. An electromagnetic apparatus 80 functions as a gear shifting actuator so as to shift a shifting sleeve 70 from one speed position to the other speed position against the energizing action of a spring 82 placed at the spring receiving seat 78 in radial direction in the hole 122 of the end 25. Thereby, a completely forkless shifting apparatus is obtained.
