A high strength and lightweight ceramic body is prepared by (a) mixing 10-30 wt.% sodium hydroxide solution having a concentration of 5-60 N and 100 wt.% fly ash, (b) adding aluminum powders, sodium hydrogencarbonate as a wight reducing agent or silica sand, boric acid, formic acid soda for enhancing a strength or sodium silicate as a binder and a crack inhibitor, (c) press molding of the mixed solution with 10-70 kg/cm2, and (d) firing the molded body at 600-1400 deg.C.
