摘要 PURPOSE:To detect the accurate position of a vehicle even when road data used for map matching arithmetic operation include an error in partial shape. CONSTITUTION:A map range selecting means 105 estimates the error quantity of the road data and uses a part which is small in error quantity as an evaluation range. A map matching arithmetic means 106 performing the matching arithmetic operation between a travel track found from the outputs of an azimuth sensor 101 and a distance sensor 102 and the road data by using only the evaluation range of the road data which is small in error quantity to calculate the current position of the vehicle calculates the present position of the vehicle.
