PURPOSE:To provide an actuator, which can be miniaturized, can increase displacement generated and is applied to oscillation control, etc. CONSTITUTION:An actuator has a displacement generating means 6 composed of a magnetic body having magnetostriction, a movable member 11 fixed to the displacement generating means 6 and capable of being moved in the direction of displacement of the displacement generating means 6, magnetic field generating means 9a, 9b, 12 being disposed around the displacement generating means 6 and applying a magnetic field to the displacement generating means 6 and magnetic-circuit constituting members 1, 10, in which the displacement generating means 6 and the magnetic field generating means 9a, 9b, 12 are housed and which organizes a closed magnetic circuit. The displacement generating means 6 is constructed in such a manner that displacement generating elements 3, in which two kinds of tabular magnetic bodies 7,8 having different magnetostrictive characteristics are joined mutually, are separated at regular intervals while the same magnetostrictive characteristic side surfaces are mutually faced oppositely and connected at multistages. |
