The invention concerns an arc shield for a covered conductor 1 in an overhead power line comprising at least one arc shield part 5 connected in the vicinity of the suspension point of the conductor and in galvanic contact with the conductor, and a bare current path 4 arranged between this at least one shield part and the suspension point for the conductor.
