PURPOSE:To provide the camera with the vari-focal lens which gives a photographer no feeling physical disorder at the time of zooming and can be changed in range finding direction. CONSTITUTION:The camera with the vari-focal lens which has a photographic lens optical system constituting the vari-focal lens, a range finding optical system equipped with a range finding means 207 for measuring a subject distance, and a finder optical system which switches power associatively with the power varying operation of the photographic lens optical system is provided with a focal length detecting means which detects focal length information on the photographic lens optical system, a range finding direction change means which can changes the range finding direction of the range finding means 207, a range finding direction detecting means which detects the range finding direction set by the range finding direction change means, an in-finder display means 205 which displays the range finding direction in a finder according to focal length information detected by the focal length detecting means and range finding direction information detected by the range finding direction detecting means, and a control means which inhibits the range finding direction from being displayed in the finder during the power varying operation of the photographic lens optical system and displays it again after the power varying operation stops. |
