PURPOSE:To obtain coloring matter receiving no thermal decomposition under the working condition of a thermal recording head and having color phase pref. from the aspect of color reproducibility and large molecular extinction coefficient, by using a specific thiadiazole compound. CONSTITUTION:A thiadiazole compound represented by formula (wherein R, R<1> are aryl, lower alkyl or lower alkoxyalkyl) is used as coloring matter for thermal transfer recording. As the compound represented by the formula, 3-methylthio-5-[4'-( N,N-dimethylamino )-phenylazo]-1,2,4-thiadiazole and 3-ethylthio-5-{2'- methyl-4'-[(N-aryl-N-ethyl)amino]phenylazo}-1,2,4-thiadiazole are designated. In preparing ink for thermal transfer recording by using the aforementioned coloring matter, the coloring matter may be mixed with a proper resin, a solvent or water. |
