摘要 PURPOSE:To secure the extent of high drivability by selecting a gear position of the smallest gear ratio among gear positions where maximum excess driving force of more than the requisition excess driving force is securable, and on the basis of the selected gear position, performing shift control over an automatic transmission. CONSTITUTION:A gear position selecting means compares vehicle requisition excess driving force set by a requisition excess driving force setting means with maximum excess driving force at each gear position set by a maximum excess driving force setting means. Then, it selects a gear position of the smallest gear ratio among gear positions where maximum excess driving force of more than the requisition excess driving force is securable, and a shift control means performs shift control over an automatic transmission on the basis of the gear position selected by the gear position selecting means. Therefore even if an external environmental factor is varied to some extent, the requisition excess driving force is automatically secured in response to running resistance at that time, thus wasteful accelerator operation by a driver and troublesome automatic gearshifting attending on this accelerator operation are avoidable. With this constitution, stable, excellent drivability is maintainable without being affected by the running resistance.
