PURPOSE:To obtain the optical waveguide array which has waveguides with a flat plate shape on the whole and a small difference in length by dividing an incidence end and a projection end into the same even number of parts, and connecting them by the waveguides in right-left opposite side combination. CONSTITUTION:The nearly semi-arcuate array incidence end 3 is divided into two parts 3A and 3B about the center and the linear array projection end 5 is divided into two parts 5A and 5B about the center. A divisional array 9 which has a combination of the right-side incidence end 3A and left-side projection end 5B and a divisional array 11 which has a combination of the left-side incidence end 3B and right-side projection end 5A are mutually fitted to constitute the flat plate type optical waveguide array 13 on the whole. Namely, the incidence end 3 and projection end 5 are combined in right-left opposite-side relation to shorten a waveguide 25 which guides light to the end of the projection end 5 and increase the length of a waveguide 13 which guides light to the center of the projection end 5, thereby reducing the difference in the length between semi-arcuate shape of the incidence end 3. Consequently, the whole constitution is formed in the flat plate shape, and the assembling into a device is facilitated. |
