PURPOSE:To transfer data between areas in a short period of time by transferring data through a word buffer between one group of memory cells arranging in a row direction. CONSTITUTION:According to a block transfer instruction signal to be inputted, a block transfer control part 9 transfers data through a word buffer 17 between one group of memory cells arranged in the row direction. Namely, when a read request is executed, a value read out to a bit line is recorded in the word buffer 17. When a block transfer request is executed afterwards, the values of all the bit lines are forcedly changed into the value recorded in the word buffer 17 and written by operating the block transfer control part 9. By this operation, a transfer operation is enabled by writing the value read out to the word buffer in advance into one group of memory cells to be designated by a row address. Thus, the transfer operation can be executed in a short time. |
