PURPOSE:To obtain a new fungicidal agent having high selectivity and safety and exhibiting strong toxicity (growth-inhibiting activity) against microorganisms, especially true fungi, and little toxicity to animal and plant by using anhydrofulvinic acid as an active component. CONSTITUTION:The objective fungicide free from proliferation inhibiting activity to bacteria and animal cells, exhibiting extremely remarkable effect to inhibit the proliferation of dermatic true fungi and plant-pathogenic molds and having high safety can be produced by using anhydrofulvinic acid of formula as an active component. The anhydrofulvinic acid used as the active component can be produced by culturing a microbial strain capable of producing the acid in a nutrient medium. |
