PURPOSE:To prevent the charging of a static electricity and the reattachment of dust by neutralizing the static electricity generated by friction between a transfer element and a transfer element cleaning device using an electric charge of reverse polarity. CONSTITUTION:A residual ink on or dust attaching to a photosensitive drum 6 is removed using a cleaning buff 13 which is a transfer element cleaning device after printing process. Next, the surface of the photosensitive drum 6 is irradiated using a reset lamp 14 which is a transfer element regeneration device equipped with a reflective plate 15 so that the surface of the photosensitive drum 6 is restored to a pre-irradiation state with a light beam 4. To discharge a static electricity generated at that time, an electric charge having a reverse polarity to the generated static electricity is applied to the surface of the photosensitive drum 6 with the help of a charging device 20. Subsequently, dust sticking to the surface of the photosensitive drum 6 is liberated from the electric charge. Thus dust can be easily removed. |
