PURPOSE:To obtain the deodorant having an extremely high deodorizing power and excellent safety by incorporating >=1 kinds selected from hinokitiol and hinokitiol salts into this deodorant. CONSTITUTION:The hinokitiol is the same material as beta-thujaplicin and its chemical designation is 4-isopropyl-2-hydroxy-cyclohepta-2,4,6-tolyene-1-on(C10-H12 O2). While the hinokitiol is extracted from Formosan cypress oil, Aomori cypress oil, etc., the hinokitiol obtd. by a synthetic technique is equally usable. The hinokitiol has various pharmacological actions, such as antibacterial actions, is extremely weakly toxic, and is less stimulative to the skin; the hinokitiol is a safe material. The hinokitiol salts are similarly used. This deodorant is effective for malodors, such as amine odors and ammonia odors and is usable in rooms, toilets, etc. The form is liquid, solid, granular, gelatinous or pasty. The compounding ratio of the hinokitiol and the hinokitiol salts is selected according to applications and is usually specified in a 0.0001 to 15 wt.% range. |
