A stackable crate to hold bottles is open at the top and has recesses (31) in its bottom to receive the bases (41) of the bottles. A central through-opening (32) is arranged through each recess in the bottom of the crate. When two bottles are stacked one on top of the other, the cap part (45) of the bottles in the lower crate is surrounded by said bottom openings (32) in the crate above. The clearance around the bottle enclosed axially between two crates, in relation to the crates, is such that the bottle can be lifted to a level at which its base can be swung past the rim of the recess (31) and the bottle then removed through a side opening in the crate. All sidewalls of the crate are provided with openings through which the bottles can be removed. |
