The arrangement of a safety valve (12) in containers (1) serving to receive liquids which, for safety reasons, are kept under pressure in the container by means of an inert gas must always take place in such a way that, in the case of the safety valve opening, its outflow opening is always situated above the level of the liquid in order to prevent undesired escape of some of the liquid. Since a manhole (2) is customarily provided in the upper region, the space available for accommodating the safety valve (12) is limited. A container (1) according to the invention is characterised in that the safety valve (12) is accommodated as an insert part in the manhole (2). This constructional combination of the manhole (2) and the safety valve (12) provides the largest possible spacing of the outflow opening of the valve from the surface of the liquid, the constructional volume required for the container (1) being kept low at the same time due to a countersunk arrangement of the safety valve. ……
