The solution concerns antimicrobially active amphiphilic aza crown ethers of the type of N-alkylmonoazacrown-N-oxides, where R means hydrocarbonic chain with number of carbon atoms from 8 to 16 and n means 3 or 4, and their preparation method, which consists in reaction of N-alkylated aza crown ether with hydrogen peroxide at a temperature of 20 to 60 degrees C for a period of 8 hours.The above mentioned compounds are soluble in water and in organic solvents, they have wide-spectrum antimicrobial effect and are therefore utilizable as multifunctional compounds, mainly as detergents with simultaneous disinfecting and chelating effect in places, where combination of solubilizing, deterging and complexing properties and antimicrobial effect, for example also for collecting of some (even radioactive) elements from industrial waters.<IMAGE>
