PURPOSE:To prepare a molded article with a hard coat layer excellent in the adhesive strength, surface hardness, etc., by coating the surface of a molded article of a thermoplastic satd. norbornene polymer with an ultraviolet-curable hard coat compsn. contg. a hydrocarbon solvent, drying the coating film, and irradiating it with ultraviolet rays. CONSTITUTION:A thermoplastic satd. norbornene polymer (e.g. a hydrogenated ring-opening polymer of 5-methyl-2-norbornene) is molded. The surface of the molded article is coated with an ultraviolet-curable hard coat compsn. (e.g. a mixture of dipentaerithritol hexaacrylate with a photopolymn. initiator) contg. an arom. and/or an alicyclic hydrocarbon solvent, dried, and irradiated with ultraviolet rays. Thus the molded article becomes coated with a hard coat layer with an adhesive strength by the cross-cut test of 90% or higher and a surface hardness of 3H or higher and is suitable as an optical material, etc. |
