The magnetic driver for a backwards and forwards moving device comprises an electromagnet (3) which has an armature (7) working against a force, a constant voltage source (1) and a switch unit (2) for connecting an disconnecting the electromagnet and the voltage source (1). In order to allow the armature (7) to return to its output position as quickly as possible the electromagnet (3) must move quickly to remove the electric energy therein. An energy store (8) is provided to receive electrical energy from the electromagnet (3) after disconnection from the voltage source (1). ADVANTAGE - Prevents undesired temperature increase in driver which can damage components and cause reduction in performance.
