<p>PURPOSE:To enhance the availability of Mg powder, to prevent the deposition of the residue in the circulating system of a desulfurization tower and to efficiently desulfurize waste gas at a low cost by using calcined Mg oxide powder as the material for a desulfurizing agent and providing a desulfurization tower and an external treating system. CONSTITUTION:The waste gas G1 contg. sulfur oxides is continuously brought into contact with a processing soln. contg. a desulfurizing agent in the desulfurization tower A to absorb the sulfur oxides by the processing soln. An external treating system B consisting of first and second reaction stages 1 and 2 and a solid-liq. separation stage 3 is provided outside the tower A. In the first stage 1, the desulfurizing soln. having absorbed the sulfur oxides and supplied from the tower A and a slurry supplied from the stage 3 are mixed to cause a reaction. The reaction product from the stage 1 is mixed with the calcined Mg oxide grains in the stage 2 to cause a reaction. In the stage 3, the reaction product from the stage 2 is separated into a liq. free of solid and a slurry to be sent to the stage 1. The liq. free of solid is supplied to the tower A as the processing soln.</p> |
