A charging circuit (16) for a low-voltage accumulator (15) is mounted in parallel with the cut-off switch (14) of the mains input device capable of being switched by the active part (11'), which includes a low-resistance charging path (18r) and a high-resistance charging path (18R). When the input device (12) is cut off, the top-up power supply to the accumulator (15) is maintained via the high-resistance charging path (18R), with a parallel arrangement of an anti-overcharge bleed circuit (24). Before the input device (12) is placed in circuit, the low-resistance path (18r) is first used, for the purposes of rapid charging, but then, with the input device (12) placed in circuit, the top-up path (18R) is returned to, depending on the charged state of the accumulation (15). <IMAGE>
